1. तुमची आवड जाणून घ्या

मानवाच्या सुखांसाठी आणि सध्याच्या परिस्थितीतील आव्हानांचा सामना करत अधिक सुरळीतपणे जगता यावे यासाठी बायोलॉजीमध्ये तंत्रज्ञानाने केलेला सकारात्मक हस्तक्षेप म्हणजे बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी. ‘लाइफ सायन्सेस’मधील ही अत्यंत नवीन आणि आधुनिक शाखा मानली जाते. तसे असले, तरी फार पूर्वीपासून माणूस बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीचा वापर करत आहे. दुधाचे दही करण्याच्या प्रक्रियेपासून हा प्रवास सुरू झालेला आहे.

आज विविध औषधे, लसनिर्मितीपासून जेनेटिक इंजिनिअरिंग, क्लोनिंगपर्यंत असंख्य सेवा-उत्पादनांमध्ये आणि शेती, आरोग्य, औषधनिर्माण, औद्योगिकजगत, बायोफ्युएल्ससारख्या विविध क्षेत्रांमध्ये बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीचा प्रभाव पाहायला मिळतो.

शिक्षण व्यवस्था

बीएसस्सी बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीसह अन्य पदवी अभ्यासक्रम उपलब्ध आहेत. संबंधित पदवीनंतर मॉलेक्युलर बायोलॉजी, मायक्रोबायोलॉजी, बायोकेमिस्ट्री, स्टेम सेल रीसर्च, जेनेटिक इंजिनिअरिंग, बायोइन्फॉर्मेटिक्स अशा विविध स्पेशलायझेशनमध्ये शिक्षण घेता येते.

कालावधी व पात्रता

बीएसस्सी बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी हा बारावी विज्ञान शाखेनंतरचा तीन वर्षांचा पदवी अभ्यासक्रम आहे. काही ठिकाणी बीएसस्सी ‘ऑनर्स’ हा चार वर्षांचा अभ्यासक्रम सुरू करण्याची प्रक्रिया सुरू आहे. फिजिक्स, केमिस्ट्री, बायोलॉजीसह बारावी विज्ञान शाखा उत्तम गुणांनी उत्तीर्ण होणे आवश्यक आहे. प्रवेशासाठी बारावीच्या गुणांच्या निकषावरील मेरीटप्रमाणे प्रवेश दिला जातो. राज्यस्तरावर स्वतंत्र प्रवेशपरीक्षा नसते. मात्र, विद्यापीठ स्तरावर किंवा काही खासगी विद्यापीठे /महाविद्यालयांच्या स्वतंत्र प्रवेशपरीक्षा असू शकतात.

अभ्यासक्रमाचे स्वरूप

सेल स्ट्रक्चर, ऑरगॅनिक मेकॅनिझम्स, प्रिन्सिपल्स ऑफ मायक्रोबायोलॉजी, बायोफिजिक्स, ट्रान्समिशन जेनेटिक्स, इम्युनॉलॉजी, टिश्यू कल्चर, प्लांट बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, ॲनिमल बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, बायोइन्फॉर्मेटिक्स, मेडिकल बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, एथिक्स, डीएनए टेक्नॉलॉजी, इंडस्ट्रियल बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी असे विविध विषय या पदवी अभ्यासक्रमात शिकविले जातात.

बहुतांशी विषय प्रयोगशाळेशी संबंधित आहेत. या सर्वांमध्ये ‘मायक्रो स्टडी’ आहे. दैनंदिन अध्ययन प्रक्रियेत थेअरी आणि प्रॅक्टिकल्स यांचा समावेश असतो. परीक्षादेखील प्रात्यक्षिक आणि लेखी स्वरूपाच्या असतात. प्रोजेक्ट, इंटर्नशिप, इंडस्ट्री व्हिजिट्स, रिसर्च पेपर्स या माध्यमातून विद्यार्थी प्रगल्भ होणे अपेक्षित आहे.

पुढील शिक्षण

बी.एसस्सी. बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीनंतर एम.एसस्सी. बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, एम.बी.ए. बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, पोस्ट ग्रॅज्युएट डिप्लोमा इन बायोइन्फॉर्मेटिक्स, एम.एस्सी. मायक्रोबायोलॉजी, एम.एस्सी. बायोइन्फॉर्मेटिक्स, एमएस्सी बॉटनी/झूलॉजी अशा प्रकारचे शिक्षण घेता येते. याव्यतिरिक्त विविध स्पेशलायझेशनमध्ये मास्टर्स करता येते.

नोकरी कुठे?

संशोधन संस्था, केमिकल निर्मिती, क्लिनिकल रिसर्च, औषध निर्माण, हॉस्पिटल्स, फूड प्रोसेसिंग, खत निर्मिती, शासकीय आणि खासगी प्रयोगशाळा, कॉस्मेटिक्स आदी ठिकाणी बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीचे तज्ज्ञ काम करतात. यासोबतच इकॉलॉजी, सॉइल बायोलॉजी या क्षेत्रांत मोठे काम आहे. कन्सल्टेशनच्या माध्यमातून सल्ला देण्याचे काम आणि शैक्षणिक संस्थांमध्ये अध्यापनाचे काम करता येते.

नोकऱ्यांची संख्या इंजिनिअरिंगप्रमाणे मोठ्या प्रमाणात नसते, परंतु संशोधकीय वृत्ती असणाऱ्यांना उत्तम करिअर संधी मिळतात. हे खऱ्या अर्थाने ‘ग्लोबल करिअर’ आहे. बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीमध्ये उच्च शिक्षण पूर्ण केल्यानंतर शासकीय आस्थापनांमध्ये चांगल्या संधी उपलब्ध असतात.

बायोटेक्नॉलॉजिस्ट, क्लिनिकल रिसर्चर, लॅब टेक्निशियन, मॉलेक्युलर बायोलॉजिस्ट, बायोकेमिस्ट, मेडिकल सायंटिस्ट, मायक्रोबायॉलॉजिस्ट, बायो स्टॅटिस्टिशियन आदी पदांपर्यंत मजल मारता येते. उच्च शिक्षण घेतल्यास संशोधक आणि वरिष्ठ जबाबदाऱ्या मिळतात.

पुढील स्कोप

लोकसंख्या जशी वाढते, तसे अनेक प्रश्न निर्माण होत आहेत. अन्नधान्याची मोठी समस्या आहे. आरोग्याच्या दृष्टीने पाहता विविध व्याधी, आजार आपल्यासमोरची आव्हाने आहेत. यातील अनेक प्रश्नांना उत्तरे देण्याची क्षमता बायोटेक्नॉलॉजीमध्ये आहे. ॲन्झायमॉलॉजी, नॅनो बायोटेक्नॉलॉजी, फर्मेंटेशन टेक्नॉलॉजीसह विविध क्षेत्रांमध्ये आता संशोधकांची आणि तज्ज्ञांची गरज आहे. बी.एस्सी.नंतर उच्च शिक्षण घेतल्यास प्रज्ञावंतांना भविष्यात नक्कीच स्कोप आहे.

स्वतःच स्वतःचे निरीक्षण करणे अवघड असते, कारण ज्याचे निरीक्षण करायचे आणि जो निरीक्षण करणार तो या दोन्ही गोष्टी एकच आहेत. अशा वेळी आपल्याबद्दलच्या निरीक्षणासाठी मित्र, नातेवाईक, शिक्षकांकडून माहिती मिळविणे किंवा ध्वनिमुद्रण अथवा चित्रीकरणासारखे मार्ग वापरून स्वतःच स्वतःचे परीक्षण करणे असे मार्ग उपयोगी ठरतात.

बाह्य घटकांची मदत घेऊन आपल्या स्वतःबद्दलची निरीक्षणे मिळवता येतात. हे जणू काही आरशात प्रतिबिंब पाहण्यासारखे, पण प्रत्येक वेळी बाह्य घटक अथवा व्यक्ती मदतीला असतेच असे नाही आणि असलीच तर ती प्रत्येक वेळी असेलच असं नाही.

त्यामुळे चांगले आत्मपरीक्षण करायला शिकणे हाच खरा उपाय. त्यातील एक म्हणजे दैनंदिनी लेखन होय, पण दैनंदिनी लेखनासारखं तंत्र हे शेवटी घडून गेलेल्या घटनांचे पुनश्च आठवून केलेले परीक्षण असते आणि त्यासाठी लागते ते उत्तम चिंतन आणि मनन ! शेवटी चांगल्या चिंतन-मननाचेच रूपांतर चांगल्या दैनंदिनी लेखनात होत असते. मग हे करावे कसे?

मनन-चिंतनाचा अर्थ

मनन म्हणजे घडलेल्या घटनांची उजळणी करणे, जेणेकरून ती विसरली जाणार नाही, तर चिंतन म्हणजे चिकित्सक विचार करणे. मननाने घडलेल्या घटना वाटलेले परिणाम साठवून ठेवले जातात. घटना घडली की, त्याचा आपल्या मन व बुद्धीवर काही ना काही परिणाम होतोच. त्यातील काही खोल असतात, तर काही उथळ! हा परिणाम टिकवून ठेवला तरच त्यावर नंतर अधिक खोलवर चिंतन करणे शक्य होते.

एखादी गोष्ट अशीच का घडली? त्यातील कार्यकारण संबंध काय? परिणाम करणाऱ्या एखाद्या घटकाचा बदल केला असता परिणाम काही वेगळाच आला असता का? असे एखाद्या घटनेबद्दल चिकित्सक विचार करणे म्हणजे चिंतन. सर्वसाधारणपणे चिंतन-मनन हे जोड शब्द म्हणून एकत्रच वापरले जातात.

प्रक्रिया

दररोज सकाळी उठल्यानंतर आपल्याला योग्य वाटणाऱ्या देवतेचे स्मरण करून अथवा तसे नसल्यासही स्वतःला शांत करून, चित्ताची एकाग्रता साधून एकांतात ध्यान करावे. स्वतःच्या भावनांवर नियंत्रण आणावे. रागाच्या भरात अथवा आनंदाच्या भरात केलेले आत्मनिरीक्षण चुकू शकते. शक्यतो पहाटेच्या वेळी का? तर, तेव्हा विश्रांती होऊन भावना स्थिरावलेल्या असतात आणि आजूबाजूलाही शांतता असल्याने बाह्य चेतकांमुळे नवीन भावना निर्माण होण्याची शक्यता कमी असते.

मन स्थिर राखण्यास मदत होते. मन स्थिर झाल्यानंतर काय करायचे? तर, स्वतःच स्वतःला प्रश्न विचारायचे. मी काल काय करायचे ठरवले होते? त्यातील काय साध्य होऊ शकले? कोणत्या गोष्टी साध्य होऊ शकल्या नाहीत. ज्या साध्य झाल्या त्या का झाल्या? त्यातून माझ्यातील कोणती बलस्थाने प्रकट होतात? ज्या साध्य झाल्या नाहीत, त्यातून माझी कोणती मर्मस्थाने लक्षात येतात?

जे यशस्वी करू शकलो किंवा करू नाही शकलो तो केवळ योगायोग होता की, जे घडले ते नक्कीच माझ्यातल्या गुण-अवगुणांमुळे घडले? माझ्यातल्या दौर्बल्यामुळे जर एखादी गोष्ट मी करू शकलो नसेल, तर ते दौर्बल्य दूर कसे करता येईल? अशा सर्व गोष्टींवर मनन-चिंतन करावे.

2) तटस्थ आणि आदरयुक्त स्वर : जेव्हा आपण आवाज न वाढवता शांतपणे, पण आवाजात कोणत्याही प्रकारे लाचारी न ठेवता बोलतो, तेव्हा आपण अर्धी लढाई जिंकलेली असते.

3) हावभाव आणि देहबोलीमधील ठामपणा : लाजाळूपणे, गोंधळलेल्या किंवा रागावलेल्या स्वरात आपले मत मांडू नका. संयमित राहिल्याने परिस्थितीला आत्मविश्वासाने सामोरे जाण्याची तुमची क्षमता दिसून येते.

मित्रमंडळी : जर एखादा मित्र किंवा ओळखीची व्यक्ती सतत तुमच्या बोलण्यात व्यत्यय आणत असेल, तर तुम्ही त्यांना सांगा की, ‘मला आपल्या संभाषणाची कदर आहे, परंतु तुम्ही मला बोलणे पूर्ण करू दिल्यास मला अधिक आनंद होईल.’

सेल्समन : शॉपिंग मॉलमध्ये सतत तुमच्या मागे-पुढे सेल्समन फिरत असल्यास तुम्ही त्याला सांगा की, ‘मी आता केवळ सगळं बघतो/ते आहे. मला काही मदत लागली, तर मी तुम्हाला नक्की सांगेन! धन्यवाद!!’

गैरसमज दूर करा : जेव्हा एखादा सहकारी तुमच्या ई-मेलचा किंवा संदेशचा अर्थ चुकीच्या पद्धतीने लावतो, तेव्हा तुम्ही हे स्पष्ट करू शकता की, ‘इथे काही तरी गैरसमज होतो आहे. मला जे म्हणायचे होते ते असे आहे...’

मुलांच्या मर्यादा : मुलांना रात्री उशिरा झोपायचे असल्यास तुम्ही त्यांना प्रेमाने समजावू शकता की, ‘मला समजते आहे की, आज तुम्हाला उशिरा झोपायचे आहे. मात्र, आपल्या झोपेच्या वेळा बदलू नका. आपण हाच खेळ उद्याही खेळू शकतो.’

असभ्य वर्तणूक : जेव्हा कोणी तरी रांगेची शिस्त मोडतं, तेव्हा तुम्ही असे म्हणू शकता की, ‘माफ करा, परंतु मला खात्री आहे की, आता माझा नंबर आहे. त्यामुळे मी पुढे जातो. आपण सर्वांनी नियमांचे पालन केले, तर त्याचा फायदा होईल.’

मदतीची विनंती : काम खूप जास्त असल्यास, तुम्ही तुमच्या कुटुंबीयांशी प्रेमाने बोलून त्यांना विनंती करा की, ‘मला घरकामात मदत हवी आहे. आपण सर्वांनी कामांची विभागणी केली, तर काम लवकर संपेल.’

प्राधान्यक्रम : एखाद्या रेस्टॉरंटमध्ये तुमच्या मनासारखी ऑर्डर न आल्यास तुम्ही वेटरशी ठामपणे बोला. त्याला सांगा की, ‘मी माझ्या सलाडमध्ये कांदे टाकू नका असे सांगितले होते. तुम्ही कृपया पुढील ५ मिनिटांत माझ्यासाठी नवीन करून आणू शकता किंवा ही ऑर्डर रद्द करू शकता.’

अयोग्य वागणे : आपल्याला अन्यायकारक वागणूक मिळते असे तुम्हाला वाटत असेल, तर त्या व्यक्तीशी तुम्ही थेटपणे बोलायला हवे. तुम्ही असे म्हणायला हवे की, ‘मला वाटते की, मला योग्य प्रकारे वागणूक मिळत नाहीय. याबाबत काय करता येईल? यावर आपण काही बोलू शकतो का?’

कार्यक्रमांची निमंत्रणे :

आपल्याला एखाद्या सामाजिक कार्यक्रमाचे निमंत्रण आलेले असते, पण आपल्याला उपस्थित राहणे शक्य नसते, तेव्हा आपण नम्रपणे सांगावे की, ‘निमंत्रणाबद्दल धन्यवाद! मला यायला आवडले असते, आधीपासून काही गोष्टी ठरलेल्या आहेत. त्यामुळे क्षमस्व!’

वैयक्तिक गरज : तुम्हाला जर स्वतःचा वेळ हवा असेल, तर समोरच्याला तुम्ही नम्रपणे सांगू शकता की, ‘मला विचार करण्यासाठी थोडा वेळ हवा आहे. उरलेले काम आपण उद्या करू.’

आत्मविश्‍वासाने संवाद साधून स्वतःला अधिक स्पष्टपणे व्यक्त होता येते आणि अशा बोलण्याचा सकारात्मक परिणामही दिसतो.
